Contact™ Malt Extract Agar (MEA) Microbial contamination monitoring system for surface testing and gloved fingertip testing.

Double-sided MEA (malt extract agar) flex paddles. Supplemented with neutralizing additives, lecithin, polysorbate 80 and chloramphenicol. Lecithin inactivates quaternary ammonium on surfaces. Tween® (polysorbate 80) inactivates phenolics, hexachlorophene, and formaldehyde. Together lecithin and Tween® create a synergistic effect that inactivates ethanol. Chloramphenicol inhibits bacterial overgrowth while permitting successful selective isolation of fungi and yeast.

 

  • Tests for common bacteria, yeasts and fungi on surfaces, including uneven and difficult-to-reach ones, as well as on gloved fingertips.
  • Chloramphenicol is added to inhibit bacterial overgrowth while permitting successful selective isolation of fungi and yeasts.
  • Lecithin and Tween 80 are added to neutralize the antimicrobial effects of disinfectants or cleaning solutions used on surfaces.
